Week 18

¡Que tal!
This week was good. We grinded and saw the results. But it all comes from the Lord. This is his work. He could do it by himself if he wanted to. But he allows us to be apart of it and be instruments in his hands, because of how much we learn, improve, grow, change, and become closer to the savior.
On Monday we were supposed to go to Cattlemens, a steakhouse out in the middle of nowhere that raises their own cattle, but it was closed for no reason. A huge bummer. We ended up going to Great American Steakhouse and it was really good. Brother shaw and brother maser took us which was very kind of them. The Soccoro ward is so awesome.
On Tuesday not much happened. Weekly planning and lots of finding.
On Wednesday we served at the food bank per usual, and worked hard and had some good lessons. One was with Cristinas son, who works most of the year in Alaska in the largest fishing company in the word. He's super cool.
Thursday was awesome. We went to Sierra Blanca and blitzed it with the other Elders. We knocked on a door and a guy pulled up and said how's it going elders. We were like oh what's up are you a member. And he was like yeah but I'm inactive. He gave us a Coke and we started to walk away but felt prompted to go back. As we were walking back the scripture Doctrine and Covenants 10 popped into my mind. We ended up sitting down and talking with him. I shared with him the scripture and the following verse. He said that he needed to hear that scripture. His grandma had died the day before. Then we talked about eternal families. We talked about gods love for him. He said that he wanted to read the book of Mormon, and get closer to god. It was a super cool and powerful experience.
We went to one of the 2 open restaurants, a gas Mexican restaurant. Amazing enchiladas. Then we visited a member who is going through some rough times.
We Then went to visit the Allens. Man I love the Allens so much. They are so nice and I love visiting them. On Sundays, because church is an hour and a half away, the Allens hold a sacrament meeting for the members in Sierra Blanca. But they come to Soccoro one Sunday a month. They came this Sunday and it was great to see them again.
There was also a huge wind storm on Thursday, with gusts up to 70 mph. The drive home was super sketchy. But we made it.
We got to have a lesson with Alban and his family on Friday, and it was super awesome. The sprit was very strong. We are meeting with them again this Friday.
We talked again on Saturday with Cristinas son, Danny. He showed us some pics from Alaska which were so cool. He flew back yesterday, so we got a pic with him on Saturday.
Church was awesome on Sunday. Some great talks. We also had some great successes finding in a park and had 4 Spanish lessons in a row.
Today we had a super fun time playing basketball. Man I love basketball. It's so fun. We also went to Rivas, a gas Mexican restaurant. Amazing burritos.
Heres a little spiritual thought because I've been struggling with doing one in here.
10 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God; 11 For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him.
D&C 18:10-11
These are the scriptures I shared with the homie in Sierra Blanca. I know that God loves all of you very much. You are valued and loved and his child. Jesus died for all of us. He carried the pains of our sins and everything we would go through, so we won't have to suffer as long as we repent and come unto him. I testify that repentance is a gift, not a burden. I am so grateful for the gift of repentance. I've seen the atonement work in my life, and i know you all can and will feel the peace and blessings of the atonement. Jesus loves you!
